the last few weeks I have been drawing towards the end of the first year of my spiritual direction training program. we wrote reflection essays and worked on crafting a rule of life to share with one another this last weekend. I wrote my essay and worked on my rule, and then the last component was to capture that in a creative way. so I created this, which I can share with you:

The urgent should not press out the important,
The to do should not outweigh the to be;
I need not hurry and rush to find my place,
To find my worth and purpose in the doing.
I am already being.
My place is already all ready,
Here with you,
And yours is here with me.
My love is not measured in cups and pounds,
But abundantly, extravagantly,
Pressed down, overflowing,
Messy, complicated, creative,
Connecting.
Connecting my journey with yours,
Lending itself to empathy.
Come sit down on the ground with me.
Let us listen to the spirit that flows
From me to you,
Let us lean into the urgent, the important,
The small, the weighty.
Let us hold together the fleeting.
Hands cupped and filled with any small moment of joy,
We are found and
Bound in boundless grace.
If truth comes in beauty then beauty binds
The brokenhearted and the triumphant,
Co-laborers, journeying together,
One and the same,
Triumphantly brokenhearted.
For the Beloved One has triumphed
In brokenness and
For brokenness, to
Redeem brokenness.
No longer broken but beloved,
No more rejected but whole.
Wholly holy, rooted and grafted and chosen,
Embodiment of belovedness.
This is both to do and to be,
Urgently important, take at your pace:
Love.
Nothing less than love.
Yet nothing weightier.
Love and be love, beloved.
