June 2021 in books

I read a great selection this month, and finished my first 2 pregnancy books! I’ve been working on a lot of different genres for my whole life, and this is a new genre for me. I’m excited for this next chapter!

unexpectedly expecting

after 5 years of marriage where we’ve clung to the party line of “God is bigger than birth control and the best laid plans of mice and men,” we’re taking the training wheels off!

middle

the middle of the road, the middle of the bench seat, middle school, caught in the middle – uneasy, uncertain, undecided, overlooked, underestimated-I turn to my middle child status and find my place in the middle of the pack.fair to middling, mid life crisis.wakefulwatchful, in the middle of the night.stuck here in the middle with you.moving into mid 30s,Continue reading “middle”

story

story maker, chain destroyer, defender, creator;story crafter, curse breaker, nurturer, provider;story weaver, squall disrupter, composer, director;you bring us intoyour sphere, draw us into your formation;you sing us intoexistence, craft us into the quick and the breath and the being from your very word of life;the cadence of your story holds us in the palm ofthe poet of all.

Losing Myself Brought Me Here

I read a really fantastic, new to me, poet this month. She’s got a few collections I want to check out. “I was not lost or found. I was a bit in the middle. I was afraid to find out too much about myself but I did not want to be misplaced either.” “I rememberContinue reading “Losing Myself Brought Me Here”

What Kind of Woman

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Kate Baer’s collection What Kind of Woman during this year’s national poetry month. “This is not a dress rehearsal before a better kind of life.
